Played it on Switch first, then PS5, and now Xbox Series X. I still play Dragon Quest Builders 2 on a daily basis. Surely someone else who has worked on the games can step up and fill that role. But surely that would not be enough to deter Square from financing a third game, right? Dragon Quest is a long-running franchise of theirs. I'm a tad worried because the director of the first two games has since departed from Square. So I really want Dragon Quest Builders 3 to happen. So yeah, I'm sure the other guy will take care of things. EDIT: so I just checked and DQB2 had two directors. It was even longer too! There was so much game in there. And it was ultimately for the best, because the sequel had improved every aspect of the original game. Dragon Quest Builders 2 gave me the biggest feeling of "the devs really listened to the fans" out of any game. Then came the sequel, and let me tell you: it was as if the devs had made a checklist of every request that fans had made for the second game, and incorporated them into the game. There were some improvements that could have been done, but what was there was special. A story-based creation game with just the right amount of guidance. It was basically what I wanted out of Minecraft. The first Dragon Quest Builders surprised me with how much I got into it.
